Section 106 is a planning process that is required if projects receive federal funding, permits, licenses, or approvals. This process is meant to ensure that historic properties are considered during the course of federally supported project. Cassandra and Katie are experienced Section 106 consultants having worked on projects around the state for private clients, engineering firms, and municipalities. Our team offers complete Section 106 consulting services including, determining the Area of Potential Effect (APE), making eligibility determinations, and formulating mitigation plans. Our team conducts thorough investigations, works collaboratively with the SHPO, and writes comprehensive reports to ensure historic properties are considered. When needed, Cassandra and Katie partner with local archaeologists to ensure ground disturbing activities are properly investigated during the Section 106 process.
Cassandra and Katie have provided Section 106 consulting for a wide variety of projects including streetscape improvement projects and sidewalk installation projects. Additionally, Cassandra has provided Section 106 consulting to real estate developers who utilized federal funding (generally through HUD) as a part of their capital stack.
